Audio Scene Builder

Layer multiple sounds to build a complete audio scene. Start with a base layer, add foreground effects and background elements, then see the full mix visualised as stacked tracks.

Foreground Effects (select up to 3)

Background Elements (select up to 2)

AI vs Traditional Foley

Click each sound card to flip it and see the pros and cons of AI generation versus traditional foley recording for six common production sounds.

Key Insight

Layering is the secret to making AI sound design work. A single AI-generated sound effect tends to feel flat and unconvincing on its own — it lacks the subtle texture and spatial complexity of a real recording. But when you layer three or four AI sounds together — a base ambience, a foreground effect, a background texture, and a transient detail — the composite result can be remarkably rich. Each layer masks the imperfections of the others, and the combined depth creates a sense of place that no single generation can achieve. Think of AI sound design as building blocks rather than finished surfaces: each piece is simple, but the structure you build from them can be complex and convincing.
