China’s AI rules in brief
Since 1 September 2025, AI-generated text, images, audio and video that you publish must be labelled, with a visible label and an embedded identifier. Most Chinese AI tools and platforms add these for you; do not remove them.
The Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) applies when you put customer or employee details into an AI tool. Use company-approved tools, remove names and ID numbers, and follow your company’s data rules.
Public generative AI services in China must be filed with regulators. The apps in this course are mainstream services. For confidential work, ask IT whether a company or self-hosted version is available.
This is not legal advice. Rules change. For your company’s obligations, check with your legal or compliance team.
