Banking & Taxes with Claude and QuickBooks

Take the grind out of bookkeeping and BAS time. Learn the two ways to connect Claude to QuickBooks, consolidate your accounts, and prepare your BAS — with a clear-eyed look at the risks and where a human must stay in charge.

Please note: this session is educational only and is not tax, accounting or financial advice. Demos use dummy data. Claude never lodges a BAS, pays a bill or moves money on its own — a human always reviews and approves.

Two Ways to Connect Claude to QuickBooks

The heart of the session. One is fast and safe; the other can do anything in the UI but needs supervision. The skill is knowing which to use.

Method 1 · Fast

The QuickBooks MCP Connector

Authorise once, then Claude reads your books and acts through the API in seconds — reports, invoicing, customers, read-only payroll. Perfect for live demos and scheduled briefs.

P&L & reportsInvoicingScheduled tasksCan't reconcile / lodge BAS
Method 2 · Thorough

Claude in Chrome

Claude drives the QuickBooks website like a person — so it can reconcile, clear the bank feed and walk the BAS screens. You must log in first; it's slower and acts on live books, so you supervise and stay liable.

What You'll Walk Away With

Six practical wins — from connecting Claude to QuickBooks to a finalised BAS, done safely.

Connect via the MCP Connector

Authorise once, then pull reports and raise invoices through the API in seconds.

Drive QuickBooks via Chrome

Use Claude in the browser for the things the connector can't — and know the risks.

Automate with Scheduled Tasks

A weekly cash-flow brief or overdue-invoice list that runs itself via the connector.

Consolidate Your Accounts

From a messy bank feed to one clean, reconciled picture of the books.

Finalise Your BAS

Let Claude prepare and cross-check the figures; you and your agent lodge it.

Do It Safely

Automate the reads, supervise the writes, and keep a human on every money action.

New · Living Book

Read It as a Book

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this tax or financial advice?

No. It's educational only — not tax, accounting or financial advice. Everything Claude produces is a draft to verify; always check figures with a registered tax/BAS agent before you lodge or act.

What are the two ways to connect Claude to QuickBooks?

The MCP connector (fast, API — reports, invoicing, scheduled briefs) and Claude in Chrome (drives the QuickBooks website — reconciliation, BAS prep). We cover both and when to use each.

Will Claude lodge my BAS or pay bills automatically?

No — and it shouldn't. Claude prepares and checks; a human reviews and clicks anything that lodges, pays or submits. It can make mistakes on live books, and you remain liable, so keep yourself in the loop.

Do I need to be logged into QuickBooks for Claude in Chrome?

Yes. Claude in Chrome works inside your existing logged-in session — you sign into QuickBooks (and pass any 2FA) yourself first. The MCP connector, by contrast, is authorised once and then runs without a fresh login.

When is it on, and what do I need?

Thursday 25 June 2026, 1:00–2:00pm Sydney. Bring QuickBooks Online; ideally a sample/sandbox file you can safely practise on. Sign up here.
